On
December 20, 2000,the former China TieTong----China Railway Communication Co.,
Ltd. (China Railcom), was founded. At January 20, 2004, it was shifted from the
Ministry of Railways to the administration of the State-owned Assets Supervision
and Administration Commission (SASAC) and its name was changed to "China
TieTong Telecommunications Corporation." Ever since its incorporation, China
TieTong is a major state-owned basic telecommunications operator. With total
assets of 42.4 billion RMB and a staff of 72,000, China TieTong has established
31 provincial braches (including those located in the autonomous regions, municipalities
directly under the Central Government), 316 municipal branches and five holding
subsidiaries. With its networks characterized by nationwide coverage, advanced
technology and complete functions, China TieTong demonstrates its strength in
quick response and flexible networking due to its completely uniform dispatching
and management over all its networks. In addition to varied value-added services,
currently it also offers basic telecom services to the public, including: domestic/international
voice, data, image and multimedia communications, and domestic communications
resource leasing service. With perseverance in excellent services to win market
shares, high quality to build the brand, and differentiation to enhance competitiveness,
China TieTong has never given up its endeavor to deepen reform and to reinforce
management. As a result, over the three years since its foundation, China TieTong
has kept a track of record-making performance--annual revenues from main businesses
increased by more than 37%, fixed-line subscribers doubled every year, and the
number of Internet broadband users in 2003 was 8.52 times of that in 2002. Through
its long history of providing communications services to railway transportation,
China TieTong has trained its people and enriched its experience, and obtained
the strength to provide high quality services particularly to cross-regional and
cross-industrial clients. On the basis of honesty and integrity, we are willing
to cooperate with friends from all circles for joint development in the future.
Looking into the future, China TieTong will as always insist on the philosophy
of "Doing pioneering work with devotion, being innovative by keeping learning,
improving efficiency by cooperation and competition and building the brand with
integrity", and take the advantage of being one of the pilot exclusively
state-owned enterprises where a board of directors will be set up as . By means
of establishing a modern enterprise system, we'll comprehensively organize and
implement the development strategy, deepen the reform at the corporation level,
set up and gradually perfect a new system and mechanism suitable for constant
market changes, and endeavor to grow into a competent basic carrier in three to
five years.
Network Profile From 2001 to 2003, China TieTong has made
great efforts to integrate, upgrade and rebuilt its original networks by adopting
the most leading-edge technologies, and has basically completed the construction
of trunk transmission network, switching network, data network, MANs and the infrastructure
for railway communications and interconnection. Therefore, China TieTong has reinforced
its capability to provide telecommunications services to the public, and materialized
the transform from a dedicated railway communications provider to a public provider.
Currently
with its varied services covering nearly 300 LANs nationwide, China TieTong has
150,000 kilometers of communications lines (including 100,000 kilometers of fiber
cables), nearly 30,000 ports for various data services and 3600 kilometers of
digital microwaves. In addition, its total switch capacity exceeds 18 million
lines.
I. Backbone Transmission Network When China TieTong was just
founded, its backbone transmission network was not completely digitalized, whose
bandwidth only reached 622 Mbit/s. After two years' continuous construction and
upgrade, China TieTong has built a high-speed backbone optical transmission network
composed of five fiber loops: Northeast, Northwest, Southwest, Southeast and Beijing-Shanghai-Guangzhou
Loop. Incorporating DWDM and with a capacity of 400 G, this network covers most
of the cities in the 31 provinces in China, and a distance of 52,00 kilometers.
Beijing-Shanghai-Guangzhou Loop: With a total length of 8080 kilometers of
optical cables, this loop covers three municipalities directly under the Central
Government and eleven provinces, and involves 25 core nodes and 101 stations.
The DWDM 40í10Gb/s system is opened between the three nodes of Beijing, Guangzhou
and Shanghai. Southwest Loop: With a total length of 5500 kilometers of optical
cables, this loop covers the municipality of Chongqing, and eight provinces, and
involves 15 core nodes and 85 stations. The DWDM 32í 2.5Gb/s system is established
with self-owned fiber cables. Northwest Loop: With a total length of 11000
kilometers of optical cables, this loop covers the municipality of Beijing, six
provinces and three autonomous regions, and involves 22 core nodes and 113 stations.
The DWDM 32í 2.5Gb/s system is set up with self-owned fiber cables. Southeast
Loop: With a total length of 5860 kilometers of optical cables, this loop covers
the municipality of Shanghai, and four provinces, and involves 15 core nodes and
55stations. The DWDM 16í 2.5Gb/s system is set up with both self-owned and leased
fiber cables. Northeast Loop: With a total length of 5668 kilometers of optical
cables, this loop covers the municipalities of Beijing and Tianjin, and three
provinces, and involves 18 core nodes and 108 stations. The DWDM 16í 2.5Gb/s system
is established with self-owned fiber cables. Up to now, mainly incorporating
fiber cables with satellites and microwaves as supplements, China TieTong has
established a nationwide transmission network characterized by high capacity and
high speed.
II. Telephone Switching Network At the beginning of the
establishment, China TieTong's Telephone Switching Network was dedicated to railway
transmission, involving 56 Railway Administrations as its numbering units with
a capacity of only 2.28 million lines. After two years' construction and upgrade,
currently this network is beginning to take shape. With a switch capacity of over
18 million lines, it covers 282 of all the 343 numbered regions nationwide, and
has been interconnected with networks of all the other telecom carriers. In
addition, great achievements have also been obtained in the following aspects:
We have established a backbone intelligent network at the nationwide level
and intelligent networks as well at the provincial level, which are capable of
offering varied voice and value-added services; We have commercialized a "Two-way
Intelligent Conference System" and an IP videoconference system; We have
reaped first fruits in establishing a national billing and settlement center and
29 provincial billing centers, which enables China TieTong to be the first carrier
offering detailed records for local calls: We have set up a national customer
service system and opened our national uniform access number 10050. We have
established supporting networks, including S7 Network, Digital Synchronized Network,
Billing Network, and so on.
III. CRNET Covering nearly 300 LANs, CRNET
is a high-speed broadband IP network featuring nationwide coverage, uniform management
and centralized dispatching. It provides a wide range of services including voice,
image, fax, data and MPLS VPN with a core switch capacity of 320G and a backbone
trunk bandwidth of 10G. IV. Broadband Data Backbone The ATM-based broadband
multi-service integrated data network provides a backbone bandwidth of 2.5 G and
an access bandwidth of 622 M/155M, covering over 300 LANs with its 138 nodes. |
